zoom to any web element with Zoomooz
When you’re creating your portfolio or a type of website that features tons of images and information, there’s one property that usually is very useful to incorporate within a website and that’s a zoom property that allows your visitors make focus on specific parts of the website without having to access different pages and scrolling until the end of a gallery.
We want to recommend you a powerful jQuery plugin that was made to fulfill that necessity of a zoom action that works perfectly and can be implemented with ease, the plugin’s name is Zoomooz and it was developed by Janne Aukia.

The plugin is currently in 0.81 version, which includes complete support for Firefox 4, making it a really nice zoom element to consider when making your web projects. You can find the main documentation on the website as well as the download link.

What the plugin basically does is insert a simple zoom on clicking to elements with the class “zoomTarget”, the zoom can then be reset by making click over the element. According to the author, there’s a possibility that the upcoming versions will include IE support, 3D transformations, hide elements that are not shown while transforming and finally, kinetic scrolling.

Although the general functioning of the plugin is good, there are some bugs that still have to be improved, so hopefully we will see a major improvement on the next version.
- Doesn’t work with full-page zooming in webkit
- Requires a separate CSS file.
- The animation does not properly work in webkit when zooming with rotation.
- CSS box-shadows make animations crawl.
- Transforming elements with text content in Opera is buggy.
- Rotation goes sometimes in the wrong direction.
