Professional Photography course, from newbie to master !

Hundreds of articles have been written about photography, some good and some awful, the truth is that the amount of photography-related information out there is humongous, which makes difficult to separate the goodies from the garbage. Regarding content, some articles discuss the technical aspects of photography, others concentrate in photo editing and becoming a master in Photoshop, while the rest takes the discussion around good practices and the passion that being a photographer represents.
After searching for a while, we found that there’s not an actual photography guide that you can start with, just several mini-articles and photography websites where many complex aspects are discussed, leaving aside the people that’s just beginning on this field and want to find an user-friendly guide to learn all the essentials about photography.

Creating patterns/textures (PAT files) in Photoshop

When we’re working on a new design, whether if this is a website design, a flyer or even a logo, we usually like to incorporate textures to the process; textures can be achieved in 2 basic ways: Real-life textures or digital. Real-life textures are regularly taken from photographs and subsequently digitalized for being used. As for digital textures, they are created directly in graphic programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator, these textures have the advantage of being squeaky clean when they’re made by a pro.
On this article we’re going to study the creation process behind digital patterns in Photoshop, from its construction to the exporting as PAT files. You will also find some pretty cool examples of digital textures in web design.
Call to action buttons, curved shadows, pixel patterns and more design freebies

We’re getting closer to the first half of this year and so far there are many things in design that are still looking very 2010. What was considered good design only a few months ago is no longer the trend because as you know, design is an ever-changing field that adapts to fit people’s needs and is constantly looking to reinvent itself.
Today we like to talk about the main tendencies that will be ruling for the rest of this year as well as the ‘deadly’ sins that every designer needs to avoid at all cost in order to survive the constant critique from design purists and average clients.

Mastering shadows in Photoshop, Illustrator and Fireworks, who’s the winner?

Shading has been a vital part of art and design since ever, because it’s the way for people to actually be capable of emulating light and 3D environments within a 2D workspace, whether if it is on traditional techniques (painting, airbrushing, etc.) or digital work. Many times the designers stick to a single way of doing things and so they tend to forget or even to leave unexplored further methods that might be even more effective that the ones they defend, this statement made us think about the many different ways you can create shadows in graphic / web design.
We have taken the 3 most popular graphic programs utilized by graphic designers to do all their digital work, specially web interfaces: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Fireworks. We have executed a series of tests to find out the different types of shadows that you can make in these programs and then we compared and figured out which technique works better on each program, so now we like to offer you the results of our research.

100 poster tutorials

Posters are printed or digital artworks designed with the purpose of communicating a political ideal, informing of an upcoming event or inviting the people to purchase a determined product; there are also many posters designed to be exclusively art pieces that help artists to promote themselves. Usually posters have a combination of graphic resources and typefaces, although we can see some exceptions once in a while.
The key of a good poster design is that it has an eye-catching design and a clear message, we can translate these two elements into “remembrance”. On this showcase we like to show you 100 essential tutorials that will guide you across the road of becoming an expert in poster design, because right now you’re maybe just a tiny amoeba wanting to become a homo sapiens.

Quick Tip: Work with perspective using Vanishing Point in Photoshop

![]() |
Vanishing point is a useful Photoshop facility that helps to make perspective corrections when we have images that contain perspective planes such as buildings, houses, walls, floors and mostly rectangular shapes. The great thing about this tool is that after you define the planes, all the changes will respect and adjust to them, making your edition process way much easier than before. On this example we will add a graffiti and prolong the house’s deepness, which will look very cool at the end. |
